My names are a reminder
In subtle and not-so-subtle ways, Spirit is constantly guiding us to reveal our
True Nature. My birth/given name is Elaine which is of Greek origin meaning "Sun Ray" or "Shining Light."
37 years after I received my birth name, and after consulting my vedic astrology chart and our Beloved Guru, Sri Sri Anandamayi Ma, I received my spiritual name by Swami Gurusharanananda of Ma Sharanam Ashram on the last day of Navratri.
Although Swamiji did not know the meaning of my birth name, he was led to give me the name "Savita" which means "Sun."
Moved by this synchronicity, I choose to experience both names as personal, spiritual reminders to be of service by honoring the Light that is in us... and to remember the Light also IS us.
